Term 4 has seen the cubs busy being out and about in their community learning all about emergency services. We have visitied the SES, fire brigade and police station and the ambulance service visited us.
The Joeys were in tents for the recent Lake Macquarie District Joey Camp at Glenrock, dressing up as indians for the festivities – the leaders were the cowboys.
Some of the Belmont Scout Leaders came down and put up the rope bridge with the help of some of the parents and it proved to be a big hit with the Joeys from all over the district.
Among the activities during the camp were lassoing the cows, horseshoe tossing, archery, dream catchers, a visit to the beach, dancing, storytelling and Nerf gun battles. The big hit of the weekend, the group drumming sessions, gave permission – indeed encouragement – to Joeys to make a lot of noise resulting in a Very Loud Experience.
By the end of the camp we had lots of weary Joeys (and parents) heading for home and looking forward to the next camp.

The Scouts in a fire truck at Belmont fire station on the 6/11/12.
The combined Joeys, Cubs and Scouts cooked up a storm for their parents and families to celebrate the Group’s 85th birthday.
With nibblies, soup, punch, kebabs, salad and a huge cake it was a very memorable night at the hall.
One of our cubs has achieved the highest ward available, the Grey Wolf badge.
Jess has worked very hard for many years to complete the long list of requirements needed to get the Grey Wolf badge, the only Cub badge she can wear when she moves up to Scouts.
Congratulations to Jess and her patient leaders!
1st Belmont put in a great showing at the annual Cubs Billycart Derby, winning a couple of trophies and having a great time.
We even won the lollies!
